Enjoying the Morning in Rawa Bento with the Magnificent Kerinci Mountains in the Background

EXPLORE JAMBI – As one of the main tourist destinations in Jambi Province, the beauty of Mount Kerinci can be enjoyed from various angles. One of the best locations is Rawa Bento, located in Jernih Jaya Village, Gunung Tujuh District, Kerinci Regency, Jambi.

Rawa Bento is one of the destinations visited in the Kerinci Familiarization Trip (Famtrip) 2022, held from December 20 to 25. Rawa Bento is the highest marsh in Sumatra, located at an altitude of 1333 meters above sea level.

According to the Head of the Jambi Province Culture and Tourism Office, Arif Budiman, Rawa Bento can be explored and enjoyed using small motorized boats.

"In this place, tourists will be introduced to the view of hundreds of hectares of wild grass surrounding the marsh. This green grass is the beginning of the naming of Rawa Bento, which means marsh surrounded by green grass," he explained on Wednesday (21/12/2022).

Rawa Bento itself is more like a river's tributary. Its depth reaches around 4-5 meters. While cruising on a boat, tourists are invited to enjoy the natural scenery with wild buffalo.

"According to the story from the keeper of this destination, these buffalo were initially released by only a few by the local community. However, they have adapted well and their numbers have now multiplied to hundreds," Arif Budiman explained again.

During the journey on the boat, tourists can also enjoy the chirping of wild birds, then Sumatran monkeys in the trees. Birds such as the crested fireback, white stork, and egret also add to the diversity of the animal habitat in the Kerinci Seblat National Park area.

For tourists who enjoy sport fishing in the wild, Rawa Bento is the right choice. Here, tourists can fish and camp in tents. The site's keepers have established a camping location in an amazing spot.

"The camping spot is the best in Rawa Bento, located at the dead-end of the boat path after passing through a fairly wide estuary," he said.

"Why come early in the morning? Because in the morning, clouds usually haven't covered Mount Kerinci's face yet. So you can get the best photo," he explained.
